There is hundreds of people who fall into the trap of getting scammed. I have experienced this but have never fell into the trap. Usually on social media like instagram people would get there account hacked and the person who is scamming would texts there piers on that account asking them for money. This helps the scammer because the piers who are getting texted usually fall into this trap because they think it is the real person behind the account. Usually when I see scam texts like this, they’re mostly well written with good punctuation.Sometime, they would even write a depressing story as a tactic to send money. Today, most people do not text formal with good punctuation marks.

Yeah, I had a couple of people pretend to be my friends instagram account and then ask to get money from cashapp to supposedly get their phone account back. Funny enough these people don’t make a fake cashapp account and instead use the one with their real picture and full government name.
Yes! Usually where they tell you to send the money, the accounts do not match up.
I agree i’ve fell into one of those traps before thinking it’s a real person but it’s a scam.
Its very tempting!
I’ve had many friends fall for instagram scams in the past. Punctuation and spelling are key indicators of a false DM!!
Very insightful!
Thank you!
This scam happened to my friend one time but luckily I saw it and told them about it before it could get out of hand. Nothing came of it because it was recognized early.
This is another way to prevent this scam is by texting the users number and asking to verify.
